Adding a Follow Up Boss Connection

Add the Connection

1. Open Connections.
2. On the Follow Up Boss card, choose Connect.
3. Paste the key into API Key and choose Add Connection.

There is one connection per provider. When you need to change the key later, you edit the connection you already have rather than making a second one.

The Key Is Checked Before Anything Is Stored

Saving the form calls Follow Up Boss with the key you pasted. A key that does not work fails here, on the form, rather than a week later in the middle of a question you asked your assistant.

When it works, the page tells you which account it reached and whose user it is, along the lines of "Connected to Follow Up Boss: acme, as Dana Owner." Read that line. Showing it is the whole point: agents commonly have keys for more than one account, and the only moment you can catch the wrong one is now, before an assistant starts writing into it.

When the Key Is Rejected

A key Follow Up Boss will not accept never gets past the form. The page comes back with Follow Up Boss's own words on it, nothing is saved, and there is no half made connection to clean up afterwards. Correct the key and submit again.

Credentials Rejected is a different thing, and it appears later: it is what a connection is marked when a key that used to work stops working, which is what you see once somebody has deleted or regenerated it in Follow Up Boss. The status turns up the next time an assistant asks for something, because that is the moment Follow Up Boss refuses. The fix is to edit the connection and paste a working key.

Edit it rather than deleting it and starting over. The record of every tool call made through this connection is deleted along with it, and a key you have just had to replace is the moment that history is worth the most.
